What is Dublin Maker?

It is a free-to-attend, community-driven event which will be held on July 22nd, 2017. Dublin maker takes the form of a “show and tell” experience where inventors/makers sourced through an open call, will have an opportunity to showcase their creations at individual booths in a carnival atmosphere. It will be a family friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.

Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, artists, science clubs, students, authors, and commercial exhibitors. They are of all ages and backgrounds, coming from all over Ireland and beyond. Dublin Maker’s mission is to entertain, inform and connect the makers of Ireland, while inspiring the next generation of Ireland’s makers and inventors.

In 2017 Dublin Maker will be celebrating it’s 6th birthday and returning triumphantly to Merrion Square !

Why is Dublin Maker so great?

  • It’s a chance for us, as makers, to give back to the community through this event which will help inspire everyone to become a maker.
  • The festival will connect to people and projects within their local community and beyond.
  • The festival will help inspire and empower young people to learn more about and pursue careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
  • It’s a CSR opportunity like no other, now established as a yearly event (since 2012), which will bring together over 150 exhibiting makers and workshop leaders, 50 volunteers, and 10,000+ attendees.
  • There is no other event like it! Where else would you get flame-thrower drum kits, exercise-powered Scalectrix, 14ft drums, Irish speaking robots, crochet, a forge, a rocket launch pad and period costume all in one place?

Audience Profile

kitchen1Last year we had over 10,000 smiling attendees, 50 maker booths, plus a forge, rocket launch pad and giant motorised duck! It was a huge success. Our much loved Fabrication Tent returned with everything from 3D printing and scanning to laser cutting and vinyl cutters. Our performance area “The Most Interesting Tent” was aptly named with extraordinary talks, demos and performances from our brilliant makers.

Diversity

duck6Dublin Maker is for everyone. We strive to create a welcoming and social environment where people can work together and share their skills and experiences. We want Dublin Maker to include people of all races, all genders, all level of experience, all religious beliefs and all sexual orientations. We believe Dublin Maker should reflect the society it takes place in. By keeping Dublin Maker free to attend (and exhibit) it allows us to make it an event open to all.

We need your support to make this happen!

Becoming a sponsor of Dublin Maker is a great way for your company or organization to connect with this exciting and growing community in an all-ages event.
